Jacobus Henricus van’t Hoff (1852-1911), Dutch chemist.  Van’t Hoft was the first winner of the Nobel Prize in chemistry, earning the award through his nifty discoveries about the nature of solutions.  Even though his passion was science, he considered Lord Byron to be his idol, so clearly his taste was as impeccable as his intellect.  Plus he rocked the fohawk way before it was cool.
